PM Modi Tells NDA MPs: Laws Should Serve People, Not Burden Them
Prime Minister emphasizes citizen-friendly reforms and speedy development following NDA’s Bihar victory
New Delhi, Dec 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday underscored that laws and regulations must facilitate the convenience of citizens and should never cause harassment or inconvenience to innocent Indians. Addressing a meeting of all NDA parliamentary party members at the Parliament House complex, Modi said reforms must extend beyond economic spheres to all aspects of society.
Briefing reporters after the session, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Prime Minister stressed that “laws should not be a burden but should improve the lives of the common people.” He added that rules must strengthen the system rather than create unnecessary obstacles for citizens.
Modi also urged NDA MPs to accelerate development works, focus on youth engagement, and promote sports and other social initiatives with greater efficiency.
At the outset of the meeting, Modi was felicitated for the NDA’s resounding victory in the recent Bihar assembly elections. The 243-member Bihar Assembly witnessed the NDA securing 202 seats, paving the way for JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar to return as chief minister for the 10th time. Among the alliance partners, BJP won 89 seats, JD(U) 85, LJP (Ram Vilas) 19, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) five, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha four.
Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and BJP president J.P. Nadda were present at the meeting. Modi was garlanded by JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha, both Rajya Sabha members.
