PM Modi: ₹2,000 Crore Returned to Owners, ‘Your Money, Your Right’
Government campaign helps reclaim unclaimed deposits, insurance proceeds, dividends, and mutual fund investments
New Delhi, Dec 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced that nearly ₹2,000 crore has already been returned to rightful owners under the ‘Your Money, Your Right’ initiative, launched in October 2025 to help citizens reclaim forgotten financial assets.
In a social media post, PM Modi highlighted that the initiative aims to ensure that every citizen can reclaim what is rightfully theirs. “Here is a chance to convert a forgotten financial asset into a new opportunity. Take part in the ‘Your Money, Your Right’ movement!” he said.
Scale of Unclaimed Public Money
The Prime Minister noted that a large volume of public money remains unclaimed across financial institutions:
Banks: ₹78,000 crore of unclaimed deposits
Insurance companies: ₹14,000 crore
Mutual funds: ₹3,000 crore
Dividends: ₹9,000 crore
“These assets represent the hard earned savings and investments of countless families,” PM Modi said.
Dedicated Government Portals for Easy Claims
To simplify the process, citizens can access dedicated portals created by regulatory bodies:
RBI – UDGAM Portal: Unclaimed bank deposits and balances
IRDAI – Bima Bharosa Portal: Unclaimed insurance proceeds
SEBI – MITRA Portal: Unclaimed mutual fund amounts
Ministry of Corporate Affairs – IEPFA Portal: Unpaid dividends and unclaimed shares
Grassroots Efforts and Initial Success
Facilitation camps have been organised in 477 districts, covering rural and urban areas to maximize accessibility. Through these coordinated efforts, nearly ₹2,000 crore has been returned to citizens so far.
PM Modi Appeals to Citizens
The Prime Minister urged citizens to check if they or their family members have unclaimed deposits, insurance proceeds, dividends, or investments, and to use the dedicated portals and facilitation camps to reclaim their funds.
“Act now to claim what is yours and convert a forgotten financial asset into a new opportunity. Your money is yours. Together, let us build a transparent, financially empowered, and inclusive India,” he said.
