Neeru Wins Women’s Trap Gold at 68th NSCC

Asian Championship medallist edges past Delhi’s Kirti Gupta in a thrilling final at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range

New Delhi, Dec 30 : Asian Championship gold medallist Neeru Dhanda showcased remarkable composure to clinch the women’s trap title at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions (Shotgun) held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range on Monday.

In a closely contested final, Neeru hit 41 targets to edge past Delhi’s Kirti Gupta, who secured the silver with 40 hits. Madhya Pradesh teammate Pragati Dubey completed the podium with bronze after registering 32 hits in the final.

Pragati had earlier topped the qualification round with an impressive 117, followed by Neeru’s 114 and Rajeshwari Kumari’s 113. Delhi’s Addya Katyal placed fourth with 112, while Preeti Rajak (111+1) and Kirti Gupta (111) rounded out the final, with rankings determined by shoot-offs. In the medal round, Addya finished fourth with 27 hits, Preeti fifth with 21, and Olympian Rajeshwari Kumari of Punjab sixth with 17.

In the junior men’s trap final, Aryavansh Tyagi staged a late surge to claim gold with 42 hits. Punjab’s Keshav Chauhan earned silver with 37, while Uttar Pradesh’s Zuhair Khan took bronze with 30. Zuhair had topped the qualification round with 120, followed by Aryan Singh (118). Tyagi and Haryana’s Arjun posted 115, with Tyagi advancing via shoot-off. Keshav Chauhan (113) and Manitwa Singh Rawat (112) completed the final six, with Manitwa finishing fourth, Aryan fifth, and Arjun sixth in the medal round.

Team events highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s strength, as they captured women’s trap team gold with a combined score of 339 from Pragati Dubey, Neeru Dhanda, and Manisha Keer. Delhi claimed silver with 333, and Punjab took bronze with 319.

In the junior men’s trap team event, Haryana topped the standings with 336 points (Arjun, Lakshya Atree, and Prikshit Arya), followed by Gujarat (327) and Rajasthan (326). Delhi secured gold in the junior women’s trap team event with 323 points (Addya Katyal, Bhavya Tripathi, and Ananya Yaduvanshi), ahead of Tamil Nadu (295) and Rajasthan (274).

The 68th NSCC showcased India’s depth in shooting, with strong individual and team performances across both senior and junior categories.
