J&K Government Denies Pay Raise for Numberdars and Chowkidars
J&K Govt Confirms No Increase in Honorarium for Numberdars, Chowkidars
Srinagar, Feb 6: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday clarified in the Legislative Assembly that there is currently no plan to raise the monthly honorarium of Numberdars and Chowkidars in the Union Territory.
At present, Numberdars receive Rs 1,501 per month, while Chowkidars are paid Rs 1,500. The last revision was implemented in 2016, following a Cabinet decision on April 27, which had doubled the previous honorarium from Rs 751 to Rs 1,501 for Numberdars and from Rs 750 to Rs 1,500 for Chowkidars.
The government emphasized that no proposals are under consideration for further enhancement of payments for either category at this time.
