Lok Niwas Ladakh Marks Rajasthan Diwas with Cultural Unity Under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat
Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative highlights shared heritage and national integration
Leh, Mar 30: Rajasthan Diwas was commemorated at Lok Niwas in Ladakh as part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme, an initiative envisioned by Narendra Modi to promote unity and cultural exchange across the country. The programme seeks to deepen mutual understanding among states and Union Territories by celebrating India’s diverse traditions and heritage.
Rajasthan, popularly known as the “Land of Kings,” marks its foundation day on March 30, commemorating the merger of princely states such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer into the Indian Union in 1949. The state attained its present form after further integration in 1956, making the day a symbol of unity and historical significance.
Addressing the gathering, Under Secretary Sumera Shafi extended greetings to personnel posted in Ladakh and highlighted the shared spirit of courage between the people of Rajasthan and Ladakh. She also pointed out the growing recognition of both regions as major tourist destinations in India.
Recalling her visit to Rajasthan, she praised its vibrant culture, mentioning traditional elements such as the Ghoomar dance and the popular cuisine Dal Baati Churma. She acknowledged the dedication of personnel from across the country, including those from Rajasthan, serving in Ladakh’s challenging terrain, and commended their commitment to duty under demanding conditions.
Participants at the event shared their experiences of serving in Ladakh, expressing pride in contributing to the region while appreciating its natural beauty. Speakers also reflected on Rajasthan’s rich legacy, describing it as a land known for bravery and sacrifice, with its historic forts standing as symbols of resilience and valor.
During the programme, a message from Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde was read out, adding significance to the occasion. The event witnessed participation from officials and staff of Lok Niwas, the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat, and personnel from Rajasthan currently serving in Ladakh.
