BJP Misleading Women with ‘Fake Protests’ on Reservation Bill: Rattan Lal Gupta
Meets scores of Party functionaries from Bari Brahmana and Purmandal Blocks.
Jammu, April 22: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President (Jammu) Rattan Lal Gupta on Wednesday accused the BJP of misleading women through what he termed as “fake protests” over the Women’s Reservation Bill.
He made these remarks while interacting with party functionaries from Bari Brahmana and Purmandal Blocks District Samba at the party’s provincial headquarter, Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu.
Gupta alleged that the BJP’s stance on women’s reservation lacks sincerity and is aimed at creating confusion among the public rather than ensuring genuine empowerment of women. He reiterated that the National Conference remains committed to safeguarding the rights and dignity of women and called for honest and concrete measures instead of political theatrics. “BJP’s so-called protests on the Women’s Reservation Bill are nothing but a political gimmick aimed at misleading women. Instead of indulging in theatrics, they should demonstrate sincerity and take concrete steps to ensure real empowerment and representation for women” by consulting and taking opposition into confidence.
During the interaction, various issues concerning industries, local development and public welfare were also discussed. Mr Gupta alleged that Centre is making hollow promises of incentives for the development of local Industries but nothing has been done so far although Omar led Govt. facilitating and supporting the local as well as other Industries in J&K. Gupta assuring the delegations that their concerns would be taken up at appropriate forums.
