Hospitals Explore Digital Coordination to Improve Patient Care Access

Health authorities discuss real-time bed tracking and emergency response reforms

KOLKATA, May 16: Health authorities in West Bengal are exploring new digital coordination systems aimed at improving patient admissions, ambulance services and hospital referrals across the state.

During a high-level meeting involving senior health officials and administrators, discussions focused on creating a real-time hospital bed monitoring network and app-based ambulance management systems.

Officials said the proposed reforms are intended to reduce delays in treatment, improve emergency response efficiency and minimise patient refusals at overcrowded facilities.

Plans were also discussed to strengthen coordination between state-run hospitals, centrally managed institutions and selected private healthcare providers to expand treatment access.

Healthcare administrators emphasised the need for technology-enabled patient tracking systems to improve transparency and reduce administrative bottlenecks.

Authorities additionally proposed enhanced safety measures for healthcare workers and medical students, including digital identification systems and improved monitoring infrastructure.

Medical experts said integrated hospital coordination systems could significantly improve patient management during emergencies and periods of high demand.

Public health analysts noted that digital healthcare infrastructure is becoming increasingly important as India’s urban hospitals continue to experience rising patient loads and operational pressure
