China and Russia Expand Strategic Cooperation During Beijing Talks

Leaders Discuss Trade, Security and Regional Influence

BEIJING, May 20: Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in China for high-level discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation between the two nations.

The visit focused on economic collaboration, defence coordination and regional geopolitical developments amid increasing tensions between Russia and Western nations.

Chinese officials welcomed expanded trade cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, infrastructure and technology partnerships. Moscow also sought stronger economic support as Western sanctions continue to affect Russian industries.

Analysts said the meeting demonstrated growing alignment between Beijing and Moscow in response to shifting global power dynamics.

The talks come at a time when both countries are attempting to increase influence across Asia, Africa and the Middle East through economic and diplomatic initiatives.

Western governments are closely monitoring the partnership, viewing deeper China-Russia ties as a significant geopolitical challenge in the evolving international order.
