India Expands AI Computing Mission With New Data Centres
Government aims to strengthen domestic AI infrastructure and reduce dependence on foreign cloud systems
NEW DELHI, May 28: The Government on Wednesday announced a major expansion of the India AI Computing Mission with plans to establish additional high capacity data centres across multiple states. Officials said the initiative is aimed at enhancing the country’s artificial intelligence capabilities and supporting startups, research institutions and public sector projects.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the new facilities will provide advanced computing power required for generative AI, machine learning and large scale data processing. The move comes amid growing global competition in artificial intelligence technologies.
