Indian Space Startups Receive Major Boost Under New Satellite Policy

Private firms to gain easier access to launch facilities and space research support

BENGALURU, May 28: India’s private space sector received a fresh push after the Centre unveiled new measures to support satellite manufacturing and commercial launch services.

Officials said the revised policy framework would simplify licensing procedures and provide startups with better access to testing facilities operated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

Several emerging companies are expected to benefit from the initiative, particularly those working on small satellite technology, remote sensing and communication services.

The government said the reforms are intended to increase India’s share in the global commercial space market while promoting innovation and employment opportunities.

Experts believe the private sector will play a critical role in future lunar and deep-space missions as India seeks to strengthen its international space partnerships.

Industry representatives welcomed the announcement and described it as a major step towards making India a global hub for affordable space technology.
