NTA Extends NEET Fee Refund Update Deadline Till June 22; Over 13 Lakh Candidates Submit Bank Details
Around 13 lakh candidates update bank details ahead of NEET-UG re-examination
NEW DELHI, May 29: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline for submission of bank account details for refund of NEET-UG 2026 examination fees till June 22, providing additional time to candidates who have not yet completed the process.
The decision comes after nearly 13 lakh candidates updated their banking information on the NEET-UG registration portal for processing of fee refunds linked to the cancelled medical entrance examination.
The agency had earlier opened the online facility from May 22 to May 26 for candidates to submit their preferred bank account details. According to the latest notification issued by the NTA, the extension was granted to ensure that all eligible students are able to complete the refund formalities without difficulty.
NEET-UG 2026 was cancelled earlier this month following allegations of a question paper leak. The examination, originally conducted on May 3 for admissions to undergraduate medical courses across the country, is now scheduled to be held again on June 21.
The NTA had announced that no fresh examination fee would be charged for the re-test and that the fees already deposited by candidates would be refunded directly to their bank accounts.
Candidates can access the refund facility by logging into the NEET-UG 2026 registration portal using their application credentials. The agency has also allowed applicants to upload a cancelled cheque to avoid errors in bank account information during refund processing.
Officials clarified that once the bank account details are submitted, no further modifications will be permitted. The portal for updating banking information will remain active till 11:50 PM on June 22.
Around 23 lakh candidates had registered for the examination this year, making it one of the largest entrance tests conducted in the country. The controversy surrounding the alleged paper leak triggered widespread concern among students and parents, prompting authorities to order a fresh examination.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues to probe the alleged irregularities related to the examination process.
