Musk Renames SpaceXAI Following Trump’s ‘Super Intelligence’ Decree
Elon Musk confirms the name change after the US administration directs federal agencies to adopt the term “super intelligence” for artificial intelligence.
MOSCOW, Oct 5: SpaceXAI, an artificial intelligence company operating as a subsidiary of SpaceX, is set to change its name to SpaceXSI following an executive directive issued by US President Donald Trump, SpaceX founder Elon Musk said on Sunday.
The announcement follows Trump’s decision in late September to introduce “super intelligence” as the preferred term for artificial intelligence in official government usage. The directive also instructed departments and agencies within the executive branch to adopt the terminology.
Musk confirmed the planned rebranding in a response to a post on X that asked whether the company would alter its name in line with the presidential order.
“Yes, we will make that change,” Musk said.
The development comes as the Trump administration considers a broader framework for regulating and advancing artificial intelligence in the United States. According to The Wall Street Journal, the White House is putting together a working group that will prepare a report within 120 days examining the potential risks and opportunities associated with AI.
The panel is expected to assess the federal government’s role in the rapidly evolving technology sector while outlining measures aimed at maintaining US leadership in artificial intelligence development.
The group is being led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, with its work expected to contribute to the administration’s approach toward the future of AI and emerging advanced technologies.
Musk’s decision to adopt the new terminology for his company highlights the wider impact of the administration’s policy shift, particularly as US officials seek to establish a stronger national strategy around advanced artificial intelligence.
