The civil services examination, consisting of three stages – preliminary, main, and interview, serves as the basis for selecting officers for prestigious services like the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and the Indian Police Service (IPS).

The preliminary exam for the 2023 civil services was conducted on May 28. The UPSC has published a list on its website containing the serial numbers, roll numbers, and names of the successful candidates, with a total of 14,624 candidates qualifying for the preliminary exam.

However, the UPSC has clarified that the candidature of these candidates is provisional. As per the examination rules, all qualified candidates must reapply by submitting the Detailed Application Form-I (DAF-I) for the civil services main examination, 2023. The commission will announce the dates and provide important instructions for filling up the DAF-I and its submission on its website in due course.

The UPSC has also stated that the marks, cut-off marks, and answer keys of the civil services preliminary examination, 2023, will be uploaded on its website (https://upsc.gov.in) only after the entire process of the civil services examination, 2023, is complete, including the declaration of the final result.

For candidates seeking information or clarification regarding their results, the UPSC has set up a facilitation counter near the examination hall building at Dholpur House on Shahjahan Road in Delhi.
