NC demands abolishment of illegal & unjustified toll plaza at Sarore
LG Admn miserably failed to address burning issues of J&K: Rattan Lal
JAMMU: Aug 22: J&K National Conference has demanded the immediate abolishment of the illegal toll plaza at Sarore in district Samba. The party asserted that the presence of such a toll plaza is not only causing undue financial burden on the citizens but also reflects a failure of the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to address critical issues within the region.
In a statement issued here today, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC said that the Sarore toll plaza, which has been operating in violation of the Toll Plaza Act, has raised concerns among the populace, with many expressing dissatisfaction over the economic implications it poses for the local community. The J&K National Conference has taken a strong stance since its establishment in Sarore as the authorities have not followed the norms of establishing the toll plaza. He mentioned the distance of Ban & Sarore Toll Plaza is nearly 35 Km but the Toll Plaza Act does not allow to establish another toll plaza at a minimum distance of 60 Km.
“The establishment of an unauthorized toll plaza at Sarore is not only against the principles of justice and fairness but also indicative of the administration’s failure to address the burning issues that concern the people of Jammu region. The Party demands immediate removal of this toll plaza, which is causing undue financial strain on our citizens,” he added.
Rattan Lal Gupta emphasized that the primary duty of the administration should be to protect the rights and interests of the citizens, ensuring that their concerns are taken into account and addressed in a timely manner. He called upon the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to listen to the voices of the people and take swift action to rectify this situation by safeguarding the interests of the general public.
Raising serious concern over the burning issue of Smart Meters in Jammu district, Rattan Lal Gupta said that the people of Jammu region are fed up with BJP’s incompetent proxy governance and anti-people policy. He accused the Govt at the Centre as well as the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration of being highly arbitrary in terms of thrusting upon the common people multiple miseries through its anti-people decisions and measures despite brewing resentment among the people.
He alleged that a Rs. 71 lakh bill has been served to a widow and mother of an auto driver that exposes a huge difference between Smart and Digital meters. He said there is no doubt that people are getting inflated power bills in the Jammu region and the entire BJP leadership is maintaining criminal silken on this burning issue.
The Provincial President said that the people of the Jammu region are watching the activities of the Saffron Party and will teach a lesson of life in the ensuing polls in Jammu and Kashmir. He appealed to the people of the Jammu region to give a chance to the National Conference which is championed in fulfilling the wishes and aspirations of the general public.
