Reconstitution of Board of Directors for Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board

Jammu, 109-01-2024 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has recently approved the reconstitution of the Board of Directors (BoDs) of the Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (J&K KVIB). This significant decision comes in the wake of a comprehensive review, leading to the formulation of a renewed governing body for the state’s Khadi and Village Industries sector.

The official order issued in this regard supersedes all previous directives on the subject. The reconstitution of the BoDs is authorized under Section 4(1) of the J&K KVIB Act 1965. The approved tenure for the newly constituted BoDs is set for a period of two years or until further orders are issued, depending on which event occurs earlier.

Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat has been appointed as the Chairperson of the reconstituted BoDs. The members of this pivotal governing body include Administrative Secretaries from the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, and Industries and Commerce. Additionally, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies in J&K, Director General (Codes) from the Finance Department, Director of MSME-DI (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Institute) in J&K, Director of Industries and Commerce in Jammu, Mission Director of Rural Livelihood Mission in J&K, and the Director of Industries and Commerce in Kashmir have been named as Directors.

This comprehensive reconstitution of the BoDs aims to bring diverse expertise and perspectives to guide the policies and initiatives of J&K KVIB. With a two-year tenure, the newly appointed members are entrusted with the responsibility of steering the Khadi and Village Industries sector towards growth and development.
