Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras Steps Down, Accuses BJP of Unfair Treatment

RLJP Chief Pashupati Paras Resigns Amidst Allegations of BJP's Betrayal: What Lies Ahead for Bihar Politics?

New Delhi, 19-03-2024 : Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras tendered his resignation on Tuesday, citing “injustice” by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) towards his Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP).

Paras alleged that the BJP failed to include RLJP in the seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Bihar. His resignation came in the wake of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) announcing its seat-sharing agreement, allocating five seats to the Chirag Paswan-led LJP, headed by Ram Vilas Paswan. Paras addressed the media at a press conference, keeping his remarks brief about his resignation and refraining from detailing his future plans. As the sole ally representing RLJP in the Union Cabinet under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Paras acknowledged Modi’s leadership while expressing gratitude. However, he voiced his discontent over what he perceived as unfair treatment, despite his unwavering dedication and loyalty to the NDA alliance.
