Australia Seal Clean Sweep with 7-Wicket Win Over Bangladesh

Skipper's 28-ball 60 guides visitors to a seven-wicket win after bowlers restrict Bangladesh to 109-8

Australia, June 22: Australia completed a commanding 3-0 sweep of the T20 International series against Bangladesh after cruising to a seven wicket victory in the third and final match on Sunday.

Captain Mitchell Marsh led the chase with a blistering 60 from just 28 deliveries as Australia overhauled the modest target of 110 in only 11 overs. The aggressive right hander struck seven boundaries and four sixes, ensuring the visitors wrapped up the series in emphatic fashion after earlier wins by four wickets and seven runs.

Marsh and Josh Inglis provided a flying start, putting together a 54-run stand during the powerplay. Inglis contributed 17 before falling to left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed, while Marsh continued to dominate the bowling attack and reached his half-century in 23 balls.

Although pacer Shoriful Islam removed Marsh with Australia closing in on victory, the outcome was never in doubt. Tim David finished the contest with successive sixes off leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, remaining unbeaten on 12 as Australia reached 112-3. Matt Renshaw, who played a match-winning knock in the previous game, stayed unbeaten on six.

Earlier, Bangladesh struggled for momentum after electing to bat first. Captain Towhid Hridoy carried the innings with an unbeaten 61 off 51 balls, striking three fours and three sixes. Rishad Hossain’s 16 was the only other notable contribution as wickets fell regularly around Hridoy.

Australia’s bowling unit shared the workload effectively, with Spencer Johnson, Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa claiming two wickets each to restrict the hosts to 109-8.

Despite surrendering the T20 series, Bangladesh had enjoyed success in the preceding ODI leg, securing a 2-1 series victory.
