CCI President Sh. Arun Gupta Acknowledges and Thanks Sh. Manoj Sinha and Officials for Granting Amnesty on Tax Arrears from Pre-GST Era

Jammu, 28-12-2023 : Sh. Arun Gupta, President CCI today expresses his deep gratitude to Sh. Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble LG UT of J&K, Sh. Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Hon’ble Advisor to LG, Sh. Atal Dhulloo, Chief Secretary UT of J&K for accepting our long pending demand regarding granting amnesty for settlement of tax arrears pertaining to Pre GST regime for the dealers who could not take the benefit of earlier amnesty scheme issued vide order no. 39-F-D of 2018 due to various reasons especially the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sh. Arun Gupta said that this amnesty scheme will provide relief to the dealers on 100% waiver of penalty and interest under General Sales Tax Act 1962, central sales tax 1956 And VAT Act 2005. He further said that this decision of the government will result in minimizing the tax dispute cases.

Sh. Arun Gupta requests the business community to avail tax benefits of this amnesty scheme by depositing the tax arrears within the prescribed time limit.

Sh. Arun Gupta further said that during the initial stage of implementing the GST scheme, there were some technical/other minor mistakes on the part of the dealers/ assesses due to unawareness about GST scheme. The Chamber requests the government that those dealers / assesses should be given one time opportunity to settle their cases, especially for the period 2017-2018, 2018-2019, and 2019-2020.

Sh. Arun Gupta also requests the government/NHAI to reconsider the decision to enhance the toll tax by 100% at Nashri Toll Plaza as it will affect the business community/general public badly.
