Col Mahan Singh delegation meets Pr Secy PWD (R&B)

JAMMU, JAN 11: A delegation of Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) representatives from Mahanpur, Billawar and Basohli areas led by Col Mahan Singh (Retd), Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Kathua called on the Principal Secretary PWD (R&B) J&K UT Shailendra Kumar here today and apprised him about the anomalies in the formation of new Divisions and Sub Divisions of District Kathua. The delegation comprised of Sohal Lal Gupta Sarpanch Mahanpur, Sher Singh Sarpanch Dhamlad and Darshan Kohli Sarpanch Chunnera.

During the long meeting with the Principal Secretary, Col (Retd) Mahan Singh, while welcoming the initiative of reorganization of R&B Divisions across Jammu Province, said that it would go a long way in improving functional efficiency of the organization. He conveyed to Shailendra Kumar that after going through the draft proposal which is in circulation over social media some many anomalies have come to fore in case of Divisions and Sub Divisions of Kathua District and these need to be reconsidered for ensuring the optimum delivery of results on ground.

The delegation said that Duggan Block of Bani Sub-Division has been proposed to be brought under Basohli PWD (R&B) Sub-Division and Bhoond Block of Sub-District Basohli is proposed to be brought under Bani PWD (R&B) Sub-Division which does not suit the topography of the area, functional convenience and aspirations of the people concerned.

Col Mahan Singh said that Duggan Block may kindly be placed under PWD (R&B) Sub-Division Bani and Block Bhoond be placed under Basohli PWD (R&B) Sub-Division

Col Mahan Singh also brought to Shailendra Singh’s notice that as per the draft proposal, new PWD (R&B) Sub-Divisions have been proposed at Mandli falling under Billawar Sub-District and Mahanpur Block of Basohli Sub-District has been placed under Billawar PWD (R&B) Sub-Division while the existing PWD (R&B) Sub-Division at Mahanpur has been disbanded despite good infrastructure available at Mahanpur. Also a Sub-Division has been proposed at Gujroo Nagrota which is a part of Billawar Sub-District and placed under Hiranagar PWD (R&B) Division.

The DDC Chairman demanded that keeping in view the aspiration of the people of Mahanpur, the existing Sub-Division at Mahanpur be retained and be affiliated with Basohli PWD (R&B) Division. Similarly proposed PWD (R&B) Sub-Division at Nagrota Gujroo should be placed under Billawar Sub-District/Mandli PWD (R&B) Sub-Division instead of proposed Hiranagar PWD (R&B) Division/Dinga Amb PWD (R&B) Sub Division, he sought.

After giving a patient hearing to the delegation, Shailendra Kumar assured the members of giving due consideration to the genuine aberrations pointed out by them during the meeting.

Meanwhile Col Mahan Singh also handed over a memorandum to Shailendra Kumar pertaining to the discrepancies and recommended amendments in the draft proposal.
