Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Raised by Rs 42, Domestic Cooking Gas Rates Remain Unchanged

Restaurants and food businesses face higher fuel costs as oil marketing companies revise commercial LPG rates from June 1, while household consumers get relief from any increase.

NEW DELHI, June 1: Commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders used by hotels, restaurants, and other commercial establishments have become more expensive from June 1 following a fresh revision in prices by oil marketing companies. The latest increase is expected to add to the operational costs of businesses that depend heavily on LPG for daily activities.

According to industry sources, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 42 in the national capital. Following the revision, the retail price of the cylinder in Delhi now stands at Rs 3,113.50.

The upward adjustment comes amid periodic reviews of fuel prices conducted by oil companies based on prevailing market conditions and international energy trends. Commercial LPG rates are generally revised on the first day of every month and often fluctuate depending on global crude oil prices and supply demand dynamics.

While commercial users will have to bear the impact of the latest hike, domestic consumers have been spared from any increase. The price of the standard 14.2-kg LPG cylinder used in households remains unchanged at Rs 913 in Delhi.

The decision is expected to provide some relief to millions of families across the country, particularly at a time when household budgets continue to be affected by inflationary pressures. Stable domestic LPG prices are likely to ease concerns among consumers who rely on cooking gas for their daily needs.

Industry observers believe that the rise in commercial cylinder prices could influence operating expenses in sectors such as hospitality, catering, and food services. Restaurants and eateries may face increased fuel bills, which could eventually impact service costs if higher expenses persist over an extended period.

Commercial LPG is widely used by hotels, restaurants, roadside eateries, and catering businesses, making price revisions an important factor for the hospitality industry. Business owners often monitor these changes closely as fuel costs form a significant part of their monthly expenditure.

The latest revision highlights the differing pricing approach adopted for commercial and domestic LPG segments. While commercial rates continue to reflect market-linked adjustments, domestic cooking gas prices have remained largely stable in recent months.

With the new rates coming into effect immediately, commercial consumers across the country will have to adjust to the higher fuel costs, while household users continue to benefit from unchanged cooking gas prices.
