New Delhi, 12-01-2024: The latest official data reveals a slight uptick in retail inflation, reaching a four-month high of 5.69 percent in December 2023. This increase is primarily attributed to elevated food prices, as reported on Friday. Comparatively, the Consumer Price Index (CPI)-based inflation stood at 5.55 percent in November 2023 and 5.72 percent in December 2022.

Notably, in August 2023, inflation had surged to a peak of 6.83 percent. The nuanced fluctuations in inflation rates reflect the dynamic nature of economic factors influencing price levels, with food prices playing a significant role in this recent uptick.
