Enhancing Veterinary Care: Deputy Commissioner Emphasizes Timely Treatment for Injured Animals

 JAMMU, MAY 25: To review the issues related to animal welfare, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa today chaired a meeting of the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) here in the Conference Hall of the DC Office.

 CPO, Yoginder Katoch; SP Rural, Rahul Charak; ACG, Manisha; DIO, Sanjay Kumar; CAHO, Dr. Zahid Saleem; Sr. Vice President SPCA Devinder Kour and other concerned and representatives of NGOs attended the meeting

A threadbare discussion was held on the agenda points which included Funds availability for the construction of cattle shed and other infrastructure, including SPCA veterinary hospital cum shelter at Chowadi, MOU with JMC for taking care of Bovine after seizure/confiscation, issue regarding permission for the Bovine transportation status report regarding registration of Gaushalla, sharing of information of FIRs regarding Bovine smuggling cases to SPCA.

 The Deputy Commissioner took a detailed appraisal of the establishment of an Animal Shelter to provide due care to the animals after the rescue and post-operative stage.

 The DC stressed upon all the concerned departments to work in tandem to ensure that sick or injured Animals are given better and timely treatment.

 The DC said the purpose of District SPCA is to promote the welfare of the animals and to protect and address animal cruelty matters.

 She stressed strengthening the Committee and formulating a holistic action plan for checking the menace of cruelty to animals.

The DC emphasized on ensuring round-the-clock veterinary assistance for the sick and injured animals.

  The members and representatives of various NGOs brought various animal cruelty matters to the notice of the Chairman SPCA and put forth their suggestions to address these issues.

The DC also appreciated the work of NGOs and urged them to carry forward the work with added zeal and dedication for the Welfare of animal
