Srinagar, Mar 3: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Monday chaired a high-level security meeting to assess the law and order situation and review crime management strategies across the Union Territory.
The meeting, attended by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Range Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from various districts of the Kashmir Zone, focused on strengthening security measures and addressing emerging threats. Senior officers from the Jammu Zone also participated in the discussions virtually, ensuring a comprehensive review of law enforcement across both divisions of the Union Territory.
A police spokesperson said the DGP stressed the importance of enhanced inter-district coordination to fortify security operations and prevent crime more effectively. He directed officers to adopt a proactive approach, emphasizing intelligence-based policing and community engagement as key measures to build public trust and address security concerns.
During the meeting, district SSPs provided detailed briefings on crime trends, public safety challenges, and ongoing investigations in their respective jurisdictions. The discussions also centered around the expeditious handling of long-pending cases, with the DGP instructing officers to ensure swift and transparent investigations.
IGP Kashmir urged officers to adopt a result-oriented approach in tackling serious crimes and collaborate closely with the judiciary and prosecution to expedite legal proceedings. He also highlighted the need for heightened vigilance against emerging security threats and stressed the importance of maintaining law and order while upholding the rights of citizens.
The meeting concluded with DGP Prabhat reiterating the police force’s commitment to ensuring peace, stability, and efficient crime management across Jammu and Kashmir.
