Don’t snatch food, roof from poor farmers: Shiv Sena

Sahni seeks action against big sharks who grabbed Govt land under Roshni Act

JAMMU:  Shiv Sena’s J&K unit has strongly reacted to the order issued by J&K administration directing 100 per cent removal of encroachments from State land including Roshni and Kahcharai by 31st January, terming it as a draconian order aimed to harass the general public of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing media persons at Party’s state office in Jammu, Manish Sahni, President J&K Shiv Sena questioned the government for ordering removal of so called encroachments from land allotted under Roshni Act. He asserted that the people in possession of the said land did not occupy it forcibly but the same stands duly allotted to them under the law namely Roshni Act duly passed by the legislature of Jammu and Kashmir.  Moreover, these people got the rights of land under the Roshni Act by paying their lifelong earning for getting the land registered in their name followed by further spending on construction of dwellings to live in. For the past so many decades, thousands of farmers in rural areas are cultivating this land and raising their families.
Sahni said that action should be taken against the big sharks who grabbed the government land as the J&K Admin should desist from destroying the farmers and the poor. He asserted that with the connivance of government officials over the years some influential people have taken advantage of the government’s policies and encroached on government lands. The government should take strict action against such elements, he added.
Sahni asked the government not to harass the poor people as these people have been living their life by doing small farming for years together and their only fault is that they lived their life on the land, he added.
Sahni said that adopting a humanitarian approach, the Jammu and Kashmir administration should immediately bring a strong land policy in which the farmers and the poor, who have been earning their livelihood for decades, would have a sigh of relief.
Among those who were present in the press conference include General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, President Kamgar Raj Singh, Shashipal and Balveer Kumar.
