DUBAI, Sept 6: India produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Pakistan by seven wickets in the Women’s Asia Cup on Sunday, dismissing their rivals for just 55 before reaching the target with plenty to spare.
Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled against India’s disciplined spin attack and was bowled out for its lowest total in T20I cricket, falling for 55 in 18.1 overs.
India’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings, with the spinners repeatedly breaking Pakistan’s batting momentum. Shree Charani was among the standout performers, claiming three wickets for seven runs, while fellow spinner Prema Rawat also took three wickets.
After restricting Pakistan to a modest total, India made light work of the chase. Shafali Verma provided an aggressive start as the Indian side reached the target in only 8.4 overs, losing three wickets.
The emphatic victory strengthened India’s position at the top of Group A and kept the team firmly on course for the knockout stage.
The result also highlighted the depth and effectiveness of India’s bowling attack, with the spinners playing a decisive role in dismantling Pakistan’s batting order.
