Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference Raises Concerns Over Halt in Social Welfare Pensions
Simplify Formalities for Social Welfare Pensions: Dr Shazad
Jammu, 14-06-2023: Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference, a registered organization working for the welfare of border residents have taken serious note of the decision of the social welfare department wherein the department has stopped social welfare pensions of thousands of beneficiaries in Jammu and Kashmir citing shortcomings in their documentations.
The organization termed the decision as ‘Cruel and inhumane’ and stated that instead of stopping the pensions, the department should have given more time to the beneficiaries, but stopping pensions is a very harsh act.
Already a meager amount of Rs 1000 per Month was given to the poor people and instead of raising its amount, the department has stopped the pension and now demanding several documents.
Dr. Shazad Ahmed Malik, Chairman of BADC and former Vice Chancellor urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and demanded immediate restoration of pension of all persons. He said, the people who are getting such a meager amount should not have been compelled to run from pillar to post and the procedure should be simplified immediately.
“It’s the responsibility of the government to protect and lend a helping hand to all vulnerable sections of the society including Widows, Senior Citizens, Orphans, and Disable people so that they may live a dignified life, which is guaranteed to all citizens under the right to life and liberty article 21 of the Constitution of India” the BADC Chairman insisted.
