Jammu And Kashmir Education Department Launches School Infrastructure Audit
Authorities Begin Inspection Drive Ahead Of New Academic Session
Srinagar, May 15: The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department has started a comprehensive infrastructure audit of government schools ahead of the upcoming academic session.
Officials said inspection teams have been constituted to assess classroom conditions, sanitation facilities, electricity supply, laboratory equipment and drinking water arrangements in schools across both divisions.
The department stated that the audit aims to identify infrastructure gaps and accelerate pending repair works before schools reopen after the summer break in several regions.
Education authorities said special attention would be given to schools located in remote and hilly districts where weather-related damage often affects educational infrastructure.
The inspection teams will also evaluate digital learning facilities introduced under previous government programmes. Schools lacking smart classroom equipment or internet connectivity may receive additional financial support under upcoming education schemes.
Teachers’ associations welcomed the initiative and stressed the need for regular maintenance grants to improve the quality of education in rural institutions.
Officials added that a detailed district-wise report would be submitted to the administration to prioritise urgent developmental works.
