Jammu Street Vendors Urge JMC to Stop Targeting Small Businesses, Highlight Struggles of Poor
Senior Congress Leader Narinder Gupta Leads Protest for Rights of Daily Earners in Jammu
Jammu, Nov 18, 2024: A strong protest of the Rehari and Phari Union Association against Jammu Municipal Corporation was held in front of JMC Office Town Hall Jammu.
Senior Congress Leader Mr. Narinder Gupta along with Chairman Phari Union Mr. Subash Thakyal led the protest.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Narinder Gupta said that the daily earning people such as Rehri/phari walas, small businessmen, earn their livelihood and fed their families but the attitude of municipal authorities is very rude and these daily earning businessmen are being harassed every day. The rehri and pharies are neither on the road and nor on the footpath. It is not understood why these people are being harassed and their small businesses disrupted by the municipal authorities.
Mr. Gupta demanded that small businessmen who are earning their livelihood by way of establishing Rehries and Pharies etc. should not be harassed keeping in mind the interests of poor and downtrodden people, so that they could provide best education and medical facilities and other basic necessities of life to their children. The municipal authorities should mend their attitude as the political Govt. has been established in the state, he added.
Sh Subash Thakyal, President Fadi Union Sh Rajesh Kumar, & General Secretary Garu Ram, Fakir Chand, Sunil Kumar, Deepu, Romesh Kumar, Ram Lal Lakhan, Sham Lal, Satpal, Bharat Kumar, and Kishore also spoke on the occasion.
