J&K Road Accident, 28 Injured, Including Several Students, As Mini Bus Overturns In Rajouri
Rescue teams rushed the injured to Rajouri hospital; two critically hurt students referred to GMC Jammu
RAJOURI/JAMMU, Nov 4 – A major road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district left at least 28 people injured, most of them school students, when a mini bus overturned near Thandikassi on Tuesday morning, officials said.
According to police, the mini bus was heading towards Rajouri town when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to skid off the highway and overturn. Panic gripped the area as locals and rescue teams rushed to the spot to assist the victims.
All 28 injured persons, including 26 students, were immediately shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) Associated Hospital in Rajouri for treatment.
Officials said that two of the injured students 15 year old Aliza and 11 year old Saqib sustained critical injuries and were later referred to the GMC Hospital in Jammu for advanced medical care.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, while authorities have called for stricter enforcement of road safety measures in the hilly region.
