Kavinder felicitates sports-persons for brining laurels to J&K
Expresses concern over pitiable condition of Khelo India Complex at Bhagwati Nagar
JAMMU, AUG 30: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta has expressed concern over the failure of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council to provide the basic facilities to the sports persons and aspirants of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. He urged the Sports Council authorities to become proactive in providing facilities on the pattern of Haryana Government so that our youngsters bring unprecedented laurels to the UT and its people.
He stated this in his address during a function held here today in which he felicitated young players of J&K UT who won medals in 15th National Grappling Championship 2022 held at Sonepat in Haryana. Those who brought laurels to J&K Union Territory include Sundervi Billowria (Gold Medal), Aman Gupta (Bronze Medal), Abhi Dadwal (Bronze Medal), Tanmeet Kour (Bronze Medal), Suryansh Singh Rajput (Bronze Medal), Anmol Kumar (Bronze Medal) and Trushi Gupta (Bronze Medal).
Kavinder also appreciated Aman Gupta, Founder of Inara Welfare Trust for providing training to the young sports aspirants for making them capable of successful participation in the events at the national and international level. He expressed gratitude to Mrs Pooja Chauhan for extending all possible support to these youngsters and encouraging them for their bright future in sports.
Kavinder Gupta said J&K Union Territory has no dearth of talent but there is need for identifying the talented lot and providing them the best available coaching so that they find their rightful place in the national and international events. However, he raised serious concern over the functioning of the J&K Sports Council which he said is not working as per the expectations of the people especially the sports aspirants. He said that this can be well gauged from the Khelo India Complex at Bhagwati Nagar which is lying in a poor rather pitiable condition. He said that it is an irony that there is no drinking water and others necessary facilities for the sportspersons in this Complex.
The former Dy Chief Minister, while questioning the J&K Sports Council for its failure to provide basic facilities to the sportsperson lamented that how can the youngsters be motivated to adopt sports as career in such a dismal scenario. He said that there is no dearth of funds at present as the Centre is spending thousands of crores of rupees in strengthening and creating the sports infrastructure across the nation.
Kavinder urged the J&K Sports Council to proactively involve in promoting sports for which it must focus on providing adequate sports facilities, diet and sponsorship to sports aspirants on the pattern of Haryana Govt so that our sportspersons will be able to brining more medals for J&K.
Aman Gupta Founder of Inara Welfare Trust in his address on the occasion highlighted the aims and objectives of the trust. He informed that Inara Trust provided full support to both the aforesaid students enabling them to excel in the field of sports. He said that the Trust aims to bring a paradigm shift in the mindset of the society towards sports and culture. He said that these students are now going to Nepal for playing in the International event, exuding confidence that they will once again bring laurels to the J&K Union Territory.
