Kavinder slams Congress, other parties for boycotting new parliament building’s launch
Says opposition should also clear stand on Ram Mandir’s opening
JAMMU,25-05-2023: Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta on Thursday slammed the Congress and other political parties for boycotting the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building claiming that these political outfits have stooped so low that they are raking-up controversies on baseless issues.
The statement of BJP stalwart leader from J&K came a day after scores of Opposition parties, including Congress, TMC, Samajwadi Party, and AAP, announced a boycott of the inauguration of the new Parliament building on May 28 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that May 28 will be written in the annals of history as the day of glory for India and instead of adding grace to the event by taking part in the launch ceremony, these political outfits are trying to play spoilsport which is disgusting and uncalled for. “Surely this is another attempt by the Congress and its ilk to debase and dent the democracy of India”, he said adding that the decision of the aforesaid parties is irksome and disappointing.
He said that opposition parties should also clear their stance over the Ram Mandir opening because the ceremony for that is also in offing and these entities should also decide and make public whether they will join that ceremony or remain adamant as in the case of central vista project which will act as another milestone in achievements’ list of Modi Government. He said that Congress’ anti-nation stand is not new for the country as it also opposed the issue of Ram Setu. He also questioned the inauguration of Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. He said that it is strange that the party which is questioning the launch of a new parliament building by the real head of the government—the Prime Minister, has no objection to Sonia Gandhi’s move to inaugurate the Vidhan Sabha building.
He asked, under which capacity Sonia has taken this privilege? He said it is a common precedent that PMs used to inaugurate such prestigious projects and as such the controversy is pointless and an attempt of the Congress party to mislead the people as it has become clear to the leadership of the oldest party of the country that 2024 election is not its cup of tea and therefore it is trying to create mayhem on one or the other pretext.
