Learning Sanskrit inculcates precious values in youth ensuring their overall personality development
JAMMU, JUN 7: Bali Bhagat, former minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has emphasized upon the youth to acquire proper knowledge of Sanskrit language in order to ensure the all-round development of their personality in consonance with the precious values embedded in the rich ancient Indian culture.
He expressed this while addressing students and youth during the awareness cum teaching programme organised for the promotion of the Sanskrit language here today.
It is pertinent to mention here that the programme organized by Sanskrit Bharti Jammu Kashmir at Mahant Shri Ramlakhan Dass Memorial HSS, Burj in Jaswan Panchayat of Marh Block under the theme “Awaasiya Bhasha Prabhodhan Warg: Shibir Chalak Prashikshan Wargaschava” commenced on 3rd June 2023 and shall conclude on 13th June 2023.
The senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader while highlighting the significance of the Sanskrit language said that language is the most important component of culture and India being the only ancient civilization existing today, has its ethos embedded in the precious values of the rich literature that has mostly been penned down in the Sanskrit language.
Bali Bhagat said that all our holy scriptures have been written in the Sanskrit language and as such there is dire need for youth to learn and obtain proper knowledge of Sanskrit which is a language still used in the Indian Subcontinent. More than 3,000 Sanskrit works have been composed since India became independent in 1947, while more than 90 weekly, biweekly, and quarterly publications are published in Sanskrit. Sanskrit is used extensively in the Carnatic and Hindustani branches of classical music, and it continues to be used during worship in Hindu temples as well as in Buddhist and Jain religious practices, he asserted.
Moreover, Sanskrit is a major feature of the academic linguistic field of Indo-European studies, which focuses on both extinct and current Indo-European languages, and can be studied in major universities around the world, Bali Bhagat said.
He said that for promoting and propagating Sanskrit it is necessary to organize awareness programmes as well as Sanskrit teaching sessions by voluntary organizations as well as at the governmental level thus providing a proper platform to the aspirants to learn the rich Sanskrit language.
While complimenting the organizers of today’s programme, Bali Bhagat hoped that more such programmes will be organised regularly in the coming times by it. He urged more Non-Governmental Organizations to come forward and lead a massive campaign to pursue this noble cause in the ultimate interest of the youth and the nation.
