Manoj Sinha Leads Anti-Drug Padyatra in Budgam Under Nasha Mukht J&K Campaign

Massive participation by youth, students, and civil society members marks renewed commitment towards a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.

Budgam, May 5: Reinforcing the administration’s commitment to eliminate substance abuse from society, Manoj Sinha on Tuesday led a large anti-drug padyatra in Budgam under the ongoing Nasha Mukht Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.
The awareness march witnessed active participation from students, young volunteers, civil society representatives, government officials, and local residents, all united in spreading the message against drug addiction and promoting a healthier social environment across the Union Territory.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the urgent need for collective public participation to tackle the growing challenge of narcotics. He urged young people to stay away from drugs and channel their energy towards education, sports, innovation, and nation-building activities.
He stated that the fight against substance abuse cannot be won by the administration alone and requires active cooperation from families, educational institutions, social organisations, and local communities. Stressing the importance of awareness and early intervention, he said preventive measures and counselling initiatives are equally important alongside strict enforcement action.
The Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed the administration’s zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and warned that stringent action would continue against those involved in the illegal narcotics trade. He also underlined the government’s focus on rehabilitation programmes aimed at helping affected individuals return to normal life with dignity and support.
Participants in the padyatra carried placards and raised slogans promoting a drug free society, while several awareness messages were shared during the event to encourage responsible and healthy lifestyles among the youth.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge by participants to actively support the Nasha Mukht J&K Abhiyan and contribute towards building a safer, healthier, and addiction-free Jammu and Kashmir.
