Mohanlal Congratulates Mammootty on Major Win at Kerala State Film Awards

Malayalam cinema icons celebrate friendship and artistic excellence as Mammootty bags Best Actor for Bramayugam and Mohanlal shares a heartfelt tribute.

Kerala, Nov 4 : The 55th Kerala State Film Awards turned into a celebration of camaraderie and cinematic brilliance as superstar Mohanlal congratulated his longtime friend and fellow legend Mammootty for winning the Best Actor award.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mohanlal penned a warm message for Mammootty, affectionately calling him Ichakka a Malayalam term for elder brother. He wrote, “Heartfelt congratulations to all the winners of the Kerala State Film Awards! Special love to my Ichakka for winning Best Actor.”
The celebrated actor didn’t stop there he extended his wishes to other winners as well. Mohanlal congratulated Shamla Hamza, who bagged the Best Actress award for Feminichi Fathima, and filmmaker Chidambaram, who earned dual recognition as Best Director and Best Screenplay Writer for the hit survival drama Manjummel Boys.
Applauding the Manjummel Boys team for clinching the Best Film title, Mohanlal also gave a shoutout to Malayalam cinema’s rising stars, including Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Jyothirmayi, and Darshana Rajendran, for their standout performances this year.
Mammootty’s win came for his commanding role in Bramayugam, a dark horror thriller directed by Rahul Sadasivan, which earned both critical and commercial acclaim following its February 2024 release.
The Kerala State Film Awards were announced by Minister for Cultural Affairs Saji Cherian, with a jury headed by actor Prakash Raj. Other jury members included Ranjan Pramod, Jibu Jacob, Santhosh Echikkanam, Gayathri Ashokan, Nithin Lukose, and Bhagyalakshmi.
This year’s edition celebrated Malayalam cinema’s depth, diversity, and the mutual admiration shared by its biggest icons—symbolized beautifully in Mohanlal’s heartfelt salute to Mammootty.
