Parliament’s Budget Session Set for July 22 – August 12: Nirmala Sitharaman to Present Union Budget on July 23

New Delhi, July 6: The budget session of Parliament will be held from July 22 to August 12. The union budget for 2024-25 will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 23. This will be the first full session of Parliament after the new members took oath in the initial session of the 18th Lok Sabha, which was held from June 24 to July 2 following the general elections.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on social media that the Hon’ble President of India, on the recommendation of the Government of India, has approved the proposal to summon both Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session, 2024 from July 22, 2024, to August 12, 2024, subject to the exigencies of parliamentary business. The Union Budget 2024-25 will be presented in Lok Sabha on July 23, 2024.

This budget will be the first of the BJP-led NDA government in its new term. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has previously indicated that the third term of his government will focus on bold decision-making to write new chapters of progress.

The first session of Parliament after the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha was marked by significant clashes between the opposition and the government on various issues, including the NEET-UG examination controversy. President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint sitting of both Houses on June 27, and subsequently, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adopted motions of thanks for the President’s address. Prime Minister Modi also responded to the debates on these motions of thanks in both Houses.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance returned to power for the third consecutive term in the recent general elections, solidifying their mandate to continue their governance.
