Jammu, June 24: BJP MP Gulam Ali Khatana has urged the LG Manoj Sinha to depute provincial heads of various departments to each district once a month to assess the problems on the ground and redress on the spot.
After listening to a number of delegations here today, MP Gulam Ali said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made ample funds at the disposal of various departments but in the absence of foots of the supervisory staff on the ground, these are either under-utilized or not utilized. He said that during his tour to the Poonch district, he found that there was no facility/workshop to repair then and there though the funds were available.
MP Gulam Ali said that there is peak tourist season in Jammu and Kashmir and people are thronging to Kashmir valley in large numbers and there is about 14 hours long traffic jam almost daily and people have been claiming of no traffic police personnel present on ground but people have not seen senior officers taking any cognizance. He asked the Traffic officials, NHAI officials and other concerned departments to hold a joint meeting to discuss and make plans to end the regular traffic jams on Udhampur Banihal stretch of road. “Even toddlers are often seen waiting in vehicles without food and water on highways,” he observed.
Senior officers must step out of their AC offices and visit district headquarters and meet common people and officials also to adopt innovative strategies to redress the issues.
Likewise Power Development department has been imposing flat rates on the consumers especially tribals who use minimum light and move to dhoks in summers and are getting huge bills. These issues were brought into my notice during the recent 9 Saal Bemisaal tour to various districts and concerned officers were asked to redress on priority.
