Rani Mukerji Honoured with Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award
62nd Maharashtra State Film Awards celebrate the actor’s contribution to Indian cinema
MUMBAI, Sept 10: Actor Rani Mukerji was honoured with the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award at the 62nd Maharashtra State Film Awards, recognising her significant contribution to Indian cinema.
The awards ceremony, held on Wednesday at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Mumbai, celebrated achievements in Marathi cinema from 2024 across acting, filmmaking, music, writing and technical categories.
The event also recognised veteran filmmaker and screenwriter Salim Khan with the Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award. The honour was received by his wife and veteran actor Helen.
Composer Hridaynath Mangeshkar was presented with the V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award, while actor-director Prasad Oak received the V. Shantaram Special Contribution Award.
The Marathi film Chabila won the Best Feature Film award, while Sthal emerged as the evening’s biggest winner with six awards.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures from the Marathi and Hindi film industries. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented the awards, highlighting the contribution of artists and filmmakers to the state’s cinematic heritage.
Mukerji’s recognition adds another milestone to her long career, which has included acclaimed performances across Hindi cinema and numerous commercially successful films.
