Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan Set for April 2026 Release; Teaser Unveiled
Film based on 2020 Galwan Valley clash stars Salman Khan as an Indian Army officer; Chitrangada Singh plays the female lead
New Delhi, Dec 27: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s much anticipated war drama “Battle of Galwan” is scheduled to hit theatres on April 17, 2026, the makers announced on Saturday, coinciding with the actor’s 60th birthday.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia of Shootout at Lokhandwala fame, the film is inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops, one of the most intense military confrontations in recent history. The announcement was made with the release of the film’s teaser, which showcases Salman Khan in the role of an Indian Army officer, marked by restrained intensity, discipline and quiet authority.
Salman Khan also shared the teaser on his official Instagram handle, generating strong buzz among fans. The film is produced by Salma Khan under the banner of Salman Khan Films and stars Chitrangada Singh as the leading lady.
Speaking earlier to PTI, Salman described Battle of Galwan as one of the most physically demanding projects of his career. He said the role requires extensive training and endurance, especially due to challenging action sequences and harsh shooting conditions in Ladakh.
“It is physically demanding. Earlier, I could prepare in a week or two, but now I have to put in much more effort. Shooting at high altitude and in cold water makes it even tougher,” the actor said, adding that the film pushes him both mentally and physically.
Salman was last seen in “Sikandar”, released in March and directed by A R Murugadoss, which also starred Rashmika Mandanna in a pivotal role. With Battle of Galwan, the actor returns to the big screen in a patriotic avatar rooted in real-life events, raising expectations ahead of its 2026 release.
