SHENZHEN, Sept 7: India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty ended their long wait for a China Masters title with a stirring comeback victory over China’s He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu in the men’s doubles final.
The Indian pair recovered from losing the opening game to win 11-21, 21-13, 21-17 in a tense Super 750 summit clash. The victory marked their first China Masters title after finishing runners up in the 2023 and 2025 editions.
The Chinese duo started strongly and took the opening game comfortably, putting the Indians under immediate pressure. Satwik and Chirag responded by changing their tactics, improving their court coverage and taking greater control of the net exchanges.
Their adjustments proved decisive as they levelled the contest by taking the second game 21-13.
The deciding game remained closely fought, but the Indian pair held their composure in the closing stages to secure a 21-17 victory and complete the comeback.
The triumph was the duo’s second title of the season after their Singapore Open Super 750 success. It also marked their 10th BWF World Tour title.
The result provides a major confidence boost ahead of the Asian Games in Japan, where Satwik and Chirag will look to defend the gold medal they won in Hangzhou.
For the Indian pair, the China Masters victory was particularly significant because it came after two final defeats at the same tournament. Their ability to recover from a poor start and overturn a home challenge demonstrated the resilience that has become a defining feature of their partnership.
