State Election Commission Sets January 1 as Cutoff for Panchayat Voter Roll Update, Final List Out January 6

JAMMU, Oct 25: The State Election Commission (SEC) has initiated the annual update of Panchayat Electoral Rolls, designating January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date for voter eligibility. The final revised rolls are scheduled for release on January 6, 2025.

According to a detailed revision schedule issued today, the SEC has directed all Panchayat Election Booth Officers (PEBOs) to be present at their respective polling stations to guide electors and handle claims and objections. Assembly Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will assist PEBOs during special camp days set aside for voter verification.

To ensure a smooth process across all polling stations, District Panchayat Election Officers, who serve as the Deputy Commissioners, will oversee activities, supported by Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and Block Development Officers (BDOs). A total of six special camps will be held in Jammu and Kashmir, providing voters with structured opportunities to update records, submit claims, and address any objections.

At each camp, AEROs (BDOs) will gather information on claims and objections, submitting daily reports to Election Registration Officers (EROs), who will then relay a consolidated district report to the SEC office the following day.
