US Delays Planned Military Action Against Iran Amid Diplomatic Push

Gulf Nations Urge Washington to Continue Negotiations

WASHINGTON: The United States temporarily halted a planned military strike on Iran after intense diplomatic intervention from Gulf nations seeking to avoid a wider regional conflict.

US President Donald Trump stated that Washington decided to postpone military action after receiving assurances from regional allies that diplomatic discussions with Tehran were progressing.

The decision came amid growing fears of escalation in the Middle East following weeks of heightened tensions linked to Iran’s nuclear programme and regional military activity. Reports indicated that Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates played a major role in convincing Washington to give negotiations additional time.

Iran, meanwhile, reportedly submitted a new peace framework through Pakistani mediators in an effort to reduce tensions and reopen diplomatic channels. Tehran warned that any fresh military attack could trigger retaliation across multiple fronts in the Gulf region.

Global markets closely monitored developments as oil prices fluctuated sharply amid fears of disruption in energy supply routes, especially through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest shipping corridors.

Analysts believe the temporary pause may reduce immediate military risks, but uncertainty surrounding future negotiations continues to keep the region on edge.
