Farooq Abdullah Makes a Notable Appearance in J&K Assembly During Motion of Thanks Debate

Jammu, March 5: Former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, made a significant appearance in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Wednesday. His presence in the House, during the ongoing debate on the Motion of Thanks on the Lieutenant Governor’s address, drew attention as he observed the proceedings from the Speaker’s Gallery.

Dr. Abdullah, a towering political figure in Jammu and Kashmir, was accompanied by senior NC leaders Nasir Aslam Wani, Ajay Sadhotra, and Rattan Lal Gupta. His attendance, though not as an active participant in the debate, signaled the party’s keen interest in the legislative discussions and ongoing political developments in the Union Territory.

The Motion of Thanks debate, a key event in the Assembly, provides an opportunity for legislators to deliberate on the policies and vision outlined by the LG in his address. Dr. Abdullah’s presence was viewed as a symbolic move, reinforcing the NC’s engagement with the political discourse in J&K.

His visit to the Assembly also comes amid growing discussions on issues such as restoration of statehood, special constitutional safeguards, governance reforms, and developmental policies in the region. Though he did not address the House, his attendance underlined the National Conference’s continuing role in shaping the political narrative in Jammu and Kashmir.
