Jammu, Apr 9 — In a tragic incident that underscores the recurring dangers of mountain driving in Jammu and Kashmir, two persons lost their lives and four others sustained injuries in a road accident in the Shamthi area of Kastigarh, Doda district, on Wednesday.
According to officials, the mishap occurred when a load carrier (Bolero vehicle), bearing registration number JK06B1695, was en route from Ramban to Doda. While navigating the mountainous stretch of road, the vehicle reportedly lost control and met with a fatal accident.
Emergency response teams rushed to the site and retrieved the victims from the wreckage. Sadly, two occupants succumbed to their injuries on the spot. The four injured individuals were promptly shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Doda for advanced medical care.
Authorities have begun an investigation into the cause of the accident, and a case has been registered. Preliminary inputs suggest possible overspeeding or mechanical failure, but further details will emerge following a detailed inquiry.
Frequent road accidents along the hilly terrain of Doda and Ramban have raised serious concerns about road safety, driver vigilance, and the condition of transport infrastructure in the region. Locals have urged the administration to enforce stricter regulations and improve safety measures to prevent such devastating incidents in the future.
