DC Jammu envisions makeover for heritage RS Pura Railway Station

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 26: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Dr Rakesh Minhas chaired a meeting today to discuss the renovation and preservation of the heritage railway station at RS Pura.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised to develop the Railway Station as a heritage site to attract visitors by projecting it as a tourist destination.

Dr Minhas directed the stakeholder departments to take   steps to remove obstructions and encroachments. He also suggested adding aesthetic features such as cobblestone pathways and Victorian-style lamps to enhance the site’s appearance. He noted that the development would provide opportunities for revenue generation and livelihood.

The officers participating in the deliberations included Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department, Ashwani Kangotra; Subdivisional Magistrate RS Pura, Anuradha Thakur and Assistant Director, Archaeology and Archives Department, Dr Sangeeta Sharma besides others.
