Sainik Samaj Party Invites Patriotic Citizens and Ex-Servicemen to Contest Nagrota and Budgam By-Elections

‘Time for Good People to Enter Politics’: SSP Invites Ex-Servicemen, Social Workers for By-Elections

Jammu, October 13, 2025: The Sainik Samaj Party (SSP), Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, has issued an open call inviting patriotic citizens, ex-servicemen, and socially committed individuals to contest the upcoming Nagrota and Budgam Assembly by-elections under its banner. The announcement was made by Colonel S.S. Pathania, Chief Convener and President of the Sainik Samaj Party (JKUT), who emphasized the need to replace the current political culture with an alternative, constructive, and people-centric model of governance.

Colonel Pathania stated that the time has come for honest, competent, and nationalist individuals to step forward and contribute to the welfare and progress of Jammu and Kashmir. “The existing politics has failed to deliver. We need individuals who value service before self, integrity, and accountability to rebuild public faith in democratic institutions,” he remarked. Highlighting the deteriorating standards of political representation, he pointed out that 46 percent of Lok Sabha members currently face serious criminal charges. “These are the very people who make and execute laws. Unless good people enter politics and political parties redefine what it means to be a winnable candidate, this percentage will continue to rise,” he cautioned.

Reiterating his party’s vision, Colonel Pathania said that the Sainik Samaj Party stands for transparent, corruption-free governance, development of border and rural regions, and the welfare of serving soldiers, veterans, and their families. He added that the SSP is committed to bringing about a governance model rooted in accountability, nationalism, and service to the people.

He further recalled that the Sainik Samaj Party had contested from Jammu East and Jammu West constituencies in previous Assembly elections, where it received an overwhelming response from informed and conscious voters. “The support we received has strengthened our resolve to continue our mission for clean politics and inclusive growth,” he said.

Colonel Pathania reaffirmed the party’s core demand for a separate Union Territory or state for the people of the Jammu region, with special provisions under Article 371 to safeguard the interests of the local youth, protect the region’s land bank, and preserve its rich art and culture. He emphasized that the future of Jammu and Kashmir lies in empowering the youth with opportunities rooted in honesty, selflessness, and national pride.

Calling upon young people to join the movement, he said, “We need a new generation of leaders who are guided by the spirit of sacrifice, not personal gain. Those who wish to serve the nation, empower the people, and restore dignity to politics are welcome to be part of this journey.”
