PoJK Woman Crosses LoC into Poonch After Dispute with Father

Woman from PoJK detained by Army after reportedly fleeing home following family dispute

Jammu, Dec 17: Indian Army troops apprehended a Pakistani woman after she crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said on Wednesday.

The woman, identified as 35 year old Shehnaz Akhtar from the Gimma area of Kotli district in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), was detained by Army personnel in the Dabbi forward area of the Balakote sector on Tuesday.

According to preliminary inquiries, Akhtar reportedly had an argument with her father, following which she left her home and moved towards the LoC. She was apprehended by the Army soon after crossing into Indian territory.

Officials said the woman has not yet been handed over to the local police and further verification and legal formalities are underway.
