New Delhi, Dec 30: Ahead of the Union Budget 2026–27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday convened a crucial meeting with leading economists and sectoral experts to gather insights and recommendations on India’s economic priorities.

Government Consultations in Progress
The meeting is part of the government’s ongoing pre-budget consultation process, aimed at assessing the current economic situation and finalizing key fiscal and policy decisions for the upcoming budget.

Key Attendees
Senior officials from NITI Aayog, including Vice Chairman Suman Bery, CEO BVR Subrahmanyam, and other members, joined economists and domain specialists for the discussions. The platform allowed participants to share analyses and suggest measures to boost growth, generate employment, and strengthen key sectors.

Stakeholder Engagement Across Sectors
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is slated to present the Union Budget on February 1. In preparation, she has already engaged with economists, trade unions, labor organizations, and representatives from banking, IT, hospitality, startups, agriculture, MSMEs, and manufacturing sectors. These consultations focused on enhancing economic growth, income generation, and employment opportunities amid ongoing global uncertainties.

Officials said the interactions are intended to ensure that policy decisions are informed by expert perspectives, reflecting both domestic priorities and global economic realities.
