Home Ministry Asks States to Watch Pro‑Iran Preachers After Middle East Conflict
States advised to keep vigil on extremist speeches, social media, and diplomatic missions to prevent unrest
New Delhi, Mar 2: The Union Home Ministry has instructed states and union territories to closely monitor pro-Iran radical preachers delivering inflammatory speeches that could incite violence following the US-Israel attack on Iran, officials said.
In a circular issued on February 28, the ministry also advised authorities to track social media activity linked to extremist groups and global terror networks to curb any potential domestic fallout.
The advisory emphasized that states should heighten vigilance to prevent law and order issues arising from global developments, noting that rhetoric surrounding international events can quickly influence local tensions.
Authorities have been asked to strengthen security around US and Israeli consulates, embassies, and other diplomatic facilities to ensure the safety of personnel and maintain public peace.
The alert comes as Shia mourners across India took to the streets on Sunday to express grief and outrage over the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israel strike.
