Deepak Kumar to stage acclaimed socio-political play “Ek Tha Gadha” on April 18 at 5:00 PM at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.

Sharad Joshi’s timeless satire “Ek Tha Gadha” set to captivate Jammu theatre audience again

Jammu, 17 April 2026: Rangyug today organized a press conference at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu to formally announce the performance of its iconic and widely acclaimed play “Ek Tha Gadha.

The play designed and directed by eminent theatre Director, Deepak Kumar and written by legendary playwright Sharad Joshi, will be staged on Saturday, 18 April 2026 at 5:00 PM at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.

Addressing the media, Deepak Kumar said, “‘Ek Tha Gadha’ is not just a play, but a timeless and witty socio-political satire that continues to mirror society with striking relevance. Its sharp humour and powerful narrative makes it as impactful today as ever.”

He further added, “This production has been one of Rangyug’s most celebrated and defining works. With every performance, it has received immense appreciation from audiences and critics alike. We are delighted to bring this iconic play back to the stage and reconnect with theatre lovers.”

Highlighting the scale of the production, Deepak Kumar shared that the play features more than 25 actors, including senior, seasoned performers as well as young emerging artists. He emphasized that Rangyug has consciously engaged new talent to channelize their creative energy and provide them a meaningful platform, thereby nurturing the next generation of theatre practitioners.

Prominent among those present on the occasion were senior artists of Rangyug including Raj Kumar Behrupia, Ashish Sharma, Soham Kashyap, Shivan Gupta, Isha Ankur Bamba, Kuldeep Chouhan, Surinder Sharma, Gourav Sharma, Sumit, among others. The entire team associated with the production was present during the press conference.

Emphasizing the group’s commitment, Deepak Kumar  remarked, “Rangyug has consistently worked towards promoting meaningful, engaging and quality theatre. Reviving such a powerful production is part of our ongoing effort to keep socially relevant theatre alive and accessible, while also mentoring young talent.”
