Over 1 Lakh Farmers in Uttar Pradesh Contribute Land for Ganga Expressway: Yogi
Massive Farmer Contribution Drives Landmark Infrastructure Project
Up, Apr 30 : Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday highlighted the crucial role played by over one lakh farmers across 12 districts in enabling the construction of the Ganga Expressway, calling it a transformative step for the state’s growth. Speaking in Lucknow, the chief minister said the project would boost agricultural prosperity, generate employment for youth, and strengthen cultural and economic foundations across Uttar Pradesh.
Connectivity and Industrial Growth at the Core
Yogi credited the initiative to the “double engine government” led by Narendra Modi, emphasizing that the expressway would significantly improve connectivity from western to eastern Uttar Pradesh. He noted that enhanced infrastructure would attract investments and accelerate industrialisation.
The project is being complemented by the development of integrated industrial clusters and logistics hubs at 27 strategic locations. These facilities are expected to streamline transportation while opening new avenues for job creation and business expansion.
Infrastructure Vision Backed by Policy and Execution
The chief minister underlined that the expressway reflects a broader vision of a “New India” supported by modern infrastructure. He attributed this transformation to strong governance marked by policy clarity, transparency, and efficient implementation.
He also referenced the foundation stone laid in December 2021, describing the project as a symbol of long-term planning and commitment to development.
Sharp Criticism of Previous Governments
Taking aim at earlier administrations, Yogi said that before 2017, Uttar Pradesh faced challenges such as lawlessness, caste-based politics, and poor infrastructure. He claimed that development, employment, and investment were difficult to envision during that period.
In contrast, he stated that the past nine years have seen the expansion of an extensive road network, including expressways, highways, and rural roads, improving connectivity across districts, tehsils, and blocks.
Expanding Transport Network Across the State
Highlighting broader infrastructure achievements, Yogi pointed to advancements such as rapid rail systems, metro networks, inland waterways, and freight corridors. He mentioned the Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System as a milestone in reducing travel time and enhancing regional connectivity.
These developments, he said, demonstrate the government’s focus on unlocking Uttar Pradesh’s economic potential.
Land Acquisition and Farmer Participation
The 594-kilometre expressway required approximately 18,000 acres of land from farmers, with an additional 7,000 acres allocated for industrial clusters and logistics hubs. Yogi expressed gratitude to the farming community for their cooperation, noting that transparent land acquisition policies ensured smooth execution.
He stressed that the project’s timely completion reflects strong public participation and administrative efficiency.
Gateway to Future Growth
According to the chief minister, the Ganga Expressway will serve as a backbone for future industrial projects, including defence manufacturing and logistics operations. By reducing travel time and improving market access, it is expected to reshape economic activity across the state.
With infrastructure acting as a catalyst, the government aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a key investment destination while enhancing livelihoods and regional development.
